Breast Augmentation Miami Procedures for More Proportionate Figures

Breast augmentation is a surgical procedure that many women consider seriously and thousands choose to pursue each year. Making the final decision to have this procedure performed takes courage, but can result in very pleasing outcomes. Having an understanding of the facts about breast augmentation can clear up misconceptions and assist women in making more informed decisions.

At ARC Plastic Surgery in Miami, the entire procedure will be explained in detail, along with the risks and benefits associated with surgery. Realistic expectations other decisions can be made during the initial consultation to help guide patients toward making the best decision.

Breast augmentation is a serious surgery and should be approached as such. It offers many benefits for women who choose to undergo the procedure for either medical or cosmetic reasons. Discomfort and minor swelling after surgery are not uncommon.

The breast augmentation procedure consists of making an incision, creating a pocket in the breast area, and placing a breast implant. An incision may be made in the crease below the breast, around the areola, under the armpit, or through the navel. Most likely, the anesthesia received will be general, although some doctors use a local anesthetic along with a sedative.

Breast implants can be placed either under the chest muscle or above, directly under the breasts. Placement considerations include the anatomy of the breasts, soreness after surgery, exercise activities, upper body strength, and possible interference with mammograms.

Either silicone gel implants or saline breast implants can be used to augment the breasts. Silicone breast implants are comprised of a cohesive gel and saline of a saltwater solution. In addition to offering a subtle, more youthful appearance, silicone breast implants are less likely to experience rippling or wrinkling. Silicone breast implants are often the better choice for women with slender frames or smaller breasts who seek slightly fuller, naturally contoured breasts.

Unlike silicone implants, which are prefilled, saline breast implants are filled with a sterile, saltwater solution once they have been placed within the breast. This allows the use of a smaller incision as well as greater flexibility in breast implant volume. Although breast implant ruptures are rare in both saline and silicone implants, saline breast implants pose less risk should rupture occur because the saline solution can be naturally reabsorbed by the body.

Breast enlargement surgery is a popular procedure for women around the world. With the help of a plastic surgeon, this procedure can provide larger, fuller breasts that enhance body proportion. Both saline and silicone breast implants are available in a wide range of sizes, profiles and textures to ensure patients receive the look desired.

The size and shape of the breasts and how much augmentation is desired are factors that will be discussed in the initial consultation with the cosmetic surgery South Florida surgeon Dr. White. He will help patients determine the most effective technique to use.
