You may have moderate to severe pain and discomfort during the first four or five days after the revision procedure. The treated area may be bruised, swollen, sensitive, or numb. These are common symptoms that can be alleviated by using cold packs and taking oral pain medication as prescribed by Dr. White. You may also notice changes in nipple sensation, such as tingling, temporary numbness, increased sensitivity, or permanent numbness.
Any surgery, including revision breast surgery, carries risks. However, Dr. White takes every precaution possible to reduce the dangers of breast implant exchange. Some hazards include scarring, infection, adverse reaction to anesthesia, need for more surgery, change in nipple sensitivity, and others.
