Breast implant exchange or revision breast augmentation allows you to restore or adjust the appearance of your breasts following a previous breast augmentation procedure. Breast implant exchange is a fully customizable procedure that allows you to reshape, resize, or otherwise revise the appearance of your breasts according to your anatomy, needs, and aesthetic preferences. Dr. Jeremy White is a double board-certified plastic surgeon offering impeccable results to Miami breast implant exchange patients.
Implant exchange involves removing breast implants from a previous surgery and replacing them with new implants. Patients may choose to undergo this procedure for health or cosmetic purposes. During the breast implant exchange procedure, you'll have the opportunity to revise the appearance of your breasts to suit your preferences.
Breast implant exchange offers a variety of benefits, ranging from health-related solutions to cosmetic improvements. For example, patients who have developed capsular contracture due to their earlier breast augmentation can resolve this condition by replacing their current implants with new implants, placing the implant in a new pocket under the chest muscle, and either modifying or removing the capsule (capsulectomy). Furthermore, patients who would like to alter their breasts' size, shape, symmetry, or position can include these adjustments in their breast revision. With healthy breasts and your perfect look, you can feel your best and most confident.
Swelling will initially mask the final effects of breast implant exchange surgery. The swelling will subside, and the breasts will feel softer and more natural after at least six weeks.
However, it can take 6-12 months for the breasts to feel "normal" in some circumstances. The healing period varies from person to person, and it may take longer for the breasts to soften, normal sensation to return, scars to diminish, and the patient to grow acclimated to the feel of having an implant. Please discuss reasonable recovery expectations with your surgeon.

You may have moderate to severe pain and discomfort during the first four or five days after the revision procedure. The treated area may be bruised, swollen, sensitive, or numb. These are common symptoms that can be alleviated by using cold packs and taking oral pain medication as prescribed by Dr. White. You may also notice changes in nipple sensation, such as tingling, temporary numbness, increased sensitivity, or permanent numbness.
Any surgery, including revision breast surgery, carries risks. However, Dr. White takes every precaution possible to reduce the dangers of breast implant exchange. Some hazards include scarring, infection, adverse reaction to anesthesia, need for more surgery, change in nipple sensitivity, and others.
